While still in beta, macOS Mojave has added a new feature that is arguably bad for most of the population. By default, macOS Mojave will now show the three most recently used apps in your dock.

May 17, 2013 In fact, you can view all running processes and apps this way using any version of Mac OS or Mac OS X, whether that is macOS High Sierra, Sierra, OS X EL Capitan, Yosemite, Mavericks, Snow Leopard, Tiger, Mountain Lion, or any other version, they all include “Activity Monitor” and the various tools to monitor and observe processes this way. Apple's macOS Mojave added a feature called Recent Apps to your Dock — and it's not as useful as it sounds. Old finder shortcuts and launcher used to sit in OS 7, 8, & 9, so it made sense to.

macOS Mojave: How to hide recent apps in the Dock
- Fire up System Preferences > Dock.
- All the way at the bottom of the pane, untick the box Show recent applications in Dock.
Screencast software reviews. At least it’s an option. Personally, don’t like showing the most recent apps in the Dock, especially if those apps are already in the Dock as macOS isn’t smart enough to hide apps that are already in the Dock.
Showing recent apps can also be slightly annoying with Mac notebooks as the Dock can be cramped due to screen real estate.
